German Hessen Data Protection Authority warns of potential unlawful data transfers due to browser settings

The Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information issued a warning over possible unlawful data transfers due to browser settings. The HBDI confirmed cases of personal data being unintentionally transferred to an internet service provider without a legal basis because of cloud-based functionalities that ease user experiences. The regulator ordered organizations to adjust browser settings to meet EU General Data Protection Regulation standards and consult outside or internal information security professionals regarding specific data security concerns.
