In 2018, Siinda, in cooperation with Silktide, began conducting yearly comprehensive European-wide studies to get an insight into the quality of SMEs websites. In 2020, the online-presence of about 30,000 businesses across 12 European markets was analysed by Siinda. Compared with the previous year, the study concluded that SMEs were doing much better with their digital presence, but there was still significant room for improvement.
In March 2020, COVID-19 hit the world, and the way SMEs were doing business needed to change. SMEs without professional digital presence were not going to survive without an excellent digital presence. The result was that SMEs across the globe scrambled to improve their online presence and digital offers. Siinda at the same time conducted the Siinda Landscape Survey 2020, which measured the changes in SMEs digital presence.
