2021 Siinda Landscape Survey

In 2018, Siinda, in cooperation with Insites (formerly known as Silktide), began conducting yearly comprehensive European-wide studies to get an insight into the quality of SMEs online presence. In 2020, the online presence of nearly 30,000 businesses across 12 European markets was analyzed allowing a comparison to the previous year showing how SMEs have improved their online performance.

The results from the 2020 Landscape Study showed a significant change in how SMEs are engaging with their online properties. The most striking result was the number of businesses that updated the content on their websites within the previous 180 days. Naturally, this was expected as Covid-related lock-downs forced all businesses to rely more heavily on their websites and other online tools to reach out to their house-bound customers.

The 2021 study took the same 30,000 businesses to see if the initial engagement had been a knee-jerk reaction or if it was sustainable and growing. The 2021 study also added new tests such as the Google Lighthouse Performance Score, Google Core Web Vitals, GDPR compliance, and more.
